Why Choose Wiesman Cosmetic Surgery

for Eyelid Surgery?

What Happens During the Procedure?

During the procedure, your plastic surgeon makes small incisions that are hidden in the natural lines of your eyelids. He then removes excess fat and tightens any loose skin and muscle. This gets rid of drooping, tired eyelids and leaves your eyes looking much more youthful.

Eyelid Surgery FAQs

Dr. Wiesman is ready to help you say goodbye to drooping eyelids via minimally invasive blepharoplasty. Still, you might hesitate to schedule your consultation without knowing more. That is understandable — after all, the eyes are one of the most delicate parts of the body! To equip you with more information, we have compiled a list of answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about this procedure. If your specific concern isn’t addressed, or you would like further information on anything you discover here, give our office a call .

How Safe Is Eyelid Surgery?

Any type of surgery carries at least a little bit of risk. However, when you entrust your care to an experienced plastic surgeon, the chances that you will suffer any severe side effects or complications are quite low.

What Is the Normal Age to Undergo Eyelid Surgery?

About 90% patients who undergo eyelid surgery are over the age of 40, and of those, many of them are over the age of 60. That doesn’t mean, however, that if you are younger than that, you cannot undergo the procedure. Some patients seek treatment as early as their 20s or 30s, especially if they have naturally hooded eyes.

What Can I Expect During the Recovery Process?

Some minor discomfort is normal. Most patients find it easy to manage by taking over the counter pain relievers. Applying ice packs to the eyelids can minimize swelling and is an important part of your recovery process. Your eyes will not be patched closed, so you will still be able to see well enough to walk around. However, that doesn’t mean you will be able to return to work right away. You should take at least a few days to relax and allow the bruising and swelling to subside a little. Before your procedure, Dr. Wiesman will provide specific instructions to make your recovery as easy as possible.

Will Eyelid Surgery Help with Dark Circles, Crow’s Feet, and Other Cosmetic Issues Around My Eyes?

Blepharoplasty is exclusively for the purpose of removing fat and sagging skin from the eyelids. It can make your eyes look more youthful, but if you have other cosmetic issues around your eyes, such as crow’s feet or dark circles, blepharoplasty will not address them. Dr. Wiesman may recommend other aesthetic procedures to help you achieve the look you want.

How Much Does Eyelid Surgery Cost?

The average cost of cosmetic eyelid surgery in 2020 was just over $4,000. That price includes just the procedure itself, not anesthesia or other related fees. Also, keep in mind that prices can vary quite a bit between practices. Dr. Wiesman charges fair and reasonable fees. Our team will be happy to discuss financial details with you during your consultation. If your drooping eyelids are interfering with your vision, your medical insurance might cover your blepharoplasty. You will have to look into the details of your specific policy to see how it applies.
